In addition to mixed-use office/retail projects and multi-tenant retail shopping centers, Carlin/White has also designed many free-standing, single tenant retail buildings, the national headquarters for several corporations, and single user medical and industrial buildings.

Surprises, a specialty retail store located at the busy intersection of Westheimer and Mid Lane is an example of a unique single user retail building.

This small specialty retail store was an architectural challenge due to a small site at a high traffic location, and the owner's square foot requirements.  The problem was that the site wasn't large enough to provide both the desired square footage and required retail parking.

The solution resulted in a three story building with an elevated mechanical parking structure to provide the required parking for the retail building.
